Who Set The World Spinning Who set the world spinning in the wrong direction? I've been losing sleep Trying to make some kind of connection The rich are getting more While the poor are losing what little they have Who set the world spinning? Who set the world spinning? Who set the world spinning in the wrong direction? 'Cause suddenly things ain't right We're gonna need a little correction For the weak are beginning to fade The strong have abandoned their brothers in need Who set the world spinning? Who set the world spinning? Who set the world spinning in the wrong direction? There's danger everywhere We're gonna need some protection From the nuclear and the gun Tell me who will remain to love our daughters and sons Who set the world spinning? Who set the world spinning? Who set the world spinning?

Simple Song 03:32
Simple Song I sit alone and I sing a song No one hears but the sun and moon The wind carries her far away To another land, another day She comes upon a little boy Frightened by the coming storm She sings to him of a sunny day When the people laugh and the children play She happens by a little girl Pondering her little world She sings a melody simple and true Of the rising sun and the morning dew Lovers kiss ‘neath the starry sky The song travels to where they lie She sings a tune the two can share They sing together unaware She whispers to an aging man All alone without a friend She comforts him with a simple song And urges him to sing along And then the song comes back again And tells me of that distant land And all the people she came upon Who heard her tune and sang along So I sit alone and play A simple song that came my way She rides the wind to another land Where the people hear and sing again

Sailor's Song Deep and rich she sings In the cool evening She sings across the lonely sea Calling me home And I can feel her strength And her song Pulling me from the sea And I wake from a salty tomb I am risen above the ocean’s womb I am not alone I am not alone We were lovers before Before the blue, before the green Before the cold, vast sea called my name Deep and rich she sings In the cool evening She sings across the lonely sea Calling me home And I wake from a salty tomb I am risen above the ocean’s womb I am not alone I am not alone

The Call Is Going Out Well the call is going out to all who have been To all who are children, women and men To the strong and the weak, the rich and the poor To cities and mountains, deserts and shores Come give a hand to your sister Come lend a hand to your brother Come take the hand of your father Care for the land of your mother The call is going out to all who have been To all who are children, women and men Come give a hand to your sister Come lend a hand to your brother Come take the hand of your father Care for the land of your mother So the call is going out to all who have been To all who are children, women and men To the strong and the weak, the rich and the poor To cities and mountains, deserts and shores Come give a hand to your sister Come lend a hand to your brother Come take the hand of your father Care for the land of your mother

Rhythms Of Life I listen to the words, listen to the songs Listen to the broken rhythms of life I try to find a way that I can sing along With all these broken rhythms of life I lie under a tree with shade of trembling light I shelter with the world in stillness all through the night I listen to the words, listen to the songs Listen to the broken rhythms of life I try to find a way that I can carry on Through all these broken rhythms of life Listen to the words, listen to the songs Listen to the broken rhythms of life Listen to the words, listen to the songs Listen to the broken rhythms of life Listen now

Ribbons 04:05
Ribbons If she’d walk through that doorway With ribbons tied up in her hair If I could see before me The rhythms that hang in the air Then I would wait forever And I would wait alone And spend all my time With sweet words and rhyme The shadows she leaves on my bones Her skin is white as paper Her eyes as black as my pen And though I cannot name her She knows me better than men Who walk among the graveyards Who stalk in shadows of night They call out my name And when I refrain She brings me her ribbons of light She sleeps in fragrant orchards She hides in crumbling towers I wait in twilight for her Through early morning hours That’s when she comes to see me She lets her ribbons unfold I answer her call And that’s when I fall Into her rhythmic soul And I am just an orphan Who travels a wandering path I’m constantly in motion The future becomes my past But she will live forever In fields and forests and trees In each ancient tomb And sheltering womb In rhythms of rivers and seas If she’d walk through that doorway With ribbons tied up in her hair If I could see before me The rhythms that hang in the air Then I would wait forever And I would wait alone And spend all my time With sweet words and rhyme The shadows through which she is known The shadows she leaves on my bones

Garden Spell 02:30
Garden Spell I done broke your garden spell I've unloosed your chains as well Now I see what's beyond this green and verdant cell I cast off your marble stone That's kept me cold here and alone Now I see what's revealed in this garden overgrown I heard a song within the moonlight It carried on into the twilight Stone and chains fell away as I began to sing along I done broke your garden spell I've unloosed your chains as well Now I'm free but do I leave or do I tend this garden well? I done broke your garden spell I done broke your garden spell I done broke your garden spell I done broke your garden spell

Painted Blue 02:41
Painted Blue I want you near me But I can’t seem to find the words to tell you ‘Cause when you’re near me My heart is a skipping stone painted blue I want to hold you And forget all the times when I remember The space between us It's as wide as the ocean, as deep as the sea My heart I'll show you It can skip like a stone across the ocean And if I show you Would you capture that skipping stone and paint it blue?

Walk With Me 01:18

about

Rhythms Of Life is a meditation in song on the healing power of music in turbulent times, recorded over the last year and completed in the midst of a global pandemic, social distancing, lockdowns, and protests over racial injustice.

My influences on this album are classic singer-songwriters like Nick Drake, Cat Stevens, Donovan, Don McLean, and songs on the quieter side from newer artists like Kate Davis, Beck, Damien Rice and John Paul White.

The songs are gentle, the arrangements are simple, and they are built mostly around acoustic guitar, vocals, viola and cello. I hope you enjoy!
